History

In 1964, Operating Engineers Local Union No. 3 Business Manager Al Clem spearheaded the effort to create a Credit Union that could offer Local 3 members and their families a broad range of affordable financial services. In February 1964, the Credit Union's first official financial report showed assets of $9,682, loans to members in the amount of $2,082 and 243 members. By December, 1964, the Credit Union had grown to $265,562 in assets, had loaned out $236,306 and had 2,931 members.

51 years later, the Credit Union’s financial report as of December 2014 states assets of $884.31 million strong! We now serve more than 75,000 members, with $3.9 billion in low-cost loans and returned more than $418 million in dividends since the Credit Union’s first year of operation.

From its humble beginnings within Local 3 headquarters on Valencia Street in San Francisco, the Credit Union has grown from 1 office to 23 branch offices located in 6 states:  Northern California, Northern Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, and Hawaii. For 51 years our goal has been to serve our union brothers and sisters. We strive to provide the best financial services to fulfill our members’ financial needs. Whether it is Checking or Savings Accounts, Real Estate or Auto Loans, Visa Credit Cards, Online or Mobile Banking, our mind is always on you.

No bank understands you better than we do, why? Because we are a 100% member owned Union financial institution. We understand the seasonal work of our members and support the union movement.

Over our 51 year history, while our products and services has expanded, our assets have increased, and the number of members served has grown, one thing has stayed the same, our goal to provide the best possible member service.
