SACTOWN 10-Mile Run: OE Federal Helps Raise $160,000
On April 6, 2014, OE Federal Credit Union took part in the third annual Credit Union SACTOWN Ten-Mile Run in Sacramento, CA. This annual event was sponsored by CU Miracle Day Inc., as well as by 55 credit unions and businesses that helped to raise funds for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals located in California and Nevada. This year, the SACTOWN Ten-Mile Run raised $160,000.
Every year, this fun event is also held to increase the publics’ awareness of credit unions. The SACTOWN Ten-Mile Run is part of a “family of races” that takes place on the same day: the 42nd Annual Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten-Mile Run in Washington D.C. and the Credit Union Freedom Runs for troops overseas. Together, these races helped raise $487,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals throughout the country.
The SACTOWN Ten-Mile Run has several events, which include a 10-mile run and a 3-person relay. This year, the event totaled over 2,000 runners, 500 were credit union employees and members. OE Federal Credit Union had participants in both the 10-mile run and the 3-person relay.
The spirit of all credit unions could be seen and heard at the event; however, OE Federal Credit Union stood out having over 28 runners and 34 spectators wearing their OE Federal sponsored “Get Your Rears in Motion” event shirts. “It was a great experience and a lot of fun. We had one of the largest numbers of registered runners from one credit union to participate”, said Christina Boyd, AVP Member Services. “Great representation from our credit union and support of Children’s Miracle Network; one of my favorite moments was watching and cheering on my fellow OE Federal runners as they crossed the finish line!”
OE Federal was proud to take part in this wonderful event. Thank you to the runners, spectators, and event staff who made the SACTOWN Ten-Mile Run possible. We look forward to next year’s event.
